What Are the Contactless Transaction Limits?

Understand the current contactless payment limits in the UK and how changes proposed by regulators could affect you.

There are two types of contactless limits to be aware of when using your Yeeld card:

Single Contactless Payment Limit

By default, the maximum amount you can spend in a single contactless payment is £100. If you go over this, you’ll be asked to enter your PIN.

You can lower this limit at any time in the app by going to ‘Card & Payment Limits’ in your account settings. However, you won’t be able to increase it beyond £100.

If you’re abroad, the contactless limit may vary depending on local rules. Some countries may require you to use Chip and PIN for smaller amounts.

Consecutive Contactless Payments Limit

You can make up to £300 in contactless transactions before you’ll be asked to enter your PIN. This applies even if each individual payment is under £100. This limit resets once you make a Chip and PIN transaction and cannot be changed.

These limits are in place to help protect your account and make sure your card is being used securely.
